Majors
You can choose to specialise (major) in up to two areas of business:
In your first year you will study eight compulsory modules, giving you a strong understanding of business management before you specialise in your second and third years. All students in their final year of study will complete the Cooperative Education Project (CEP). This gives you an opportunity to be placed in industry, gain valuable work experience and complete an agreed piece of research, increasing the chances of employment when you graduate.
In your second year you will study three modules specific to your major and a further three which could either contribute to a second major, or be elective modules based on your areas of interest. You will also take the Applied Management and Research Methodology core modules.
In your final year, you will complete the Cooperative Education Project (CEP). You will be placed in industry, gain valuable work experience and complete an agreed piece of research, increasing your chances of employment when you graduate.
Career/further opportunities
Graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Management will have the skills and knowledge to work in business. Employment opportunities (depending on major), include: human resource manager, management consultant, public administrator, accountant, financial controller, sales manager, marketing manager, advertising and business development, and specialist management positions.
Entry criteria
For entry into this course you'll need:
NCEA Level 3 comprised of 60 credits at NCEA Level 3 or above and 20 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above, including:
Or 60 credits at NCEA Level 2 in four subjects, including English;
Or satisfied the criteria for entrance to a New Zealand University, or an equivalent qualification approved by the Programme Committee;
Or completed an appropriate overseas School qualification;
Or completed a year of study at an overseas Secondary School, and gained the equivalent of 60 credits at NCEA Level 2 across four subjects.
