Programme Overview

If you're serious about writing, the Bachelor of Creativity (Writing) will help develop your skills to produce a publishable manuscript by the end of the third year.

You can enrol full-time or part-time in the Bachelor of Creativity (Writing) beginning in year one.

Programme Outline

This Writing major of the Bachelor of Creativity combines core courses with specialist Writing courses.

Year One

Discover where your strengths and interests lie by working in short fiction, script-writing, poetry, and non-fiction. Year one is offered on campus or online.

The exit qualification from year one is the Diploma in Creative Writing.

Year Two

Focus on your selected genre and create a first draft manuscript, working in a workshop environment and with a reader. Classes during year two are held either one weekend a month, or weekly. You will receive regular ongoing support but will need to be self-motivated.

The exit qualification from year two is the Diploma in Creative Writing (Advanced).

Year Three

Research and create a major body of work suitable for submission to a publisher or equivalent, working in a workshop environment and with a reader. Classes during year three are held either one weekend a month or weekly. You will receive regular ongoing support but will need to be self-motivated.

In addition to specialised topics, the Bachelor of Creativity includes both core courses and the option to enrol in electives.

Entry criteria

University entry or equivalent study/work experience, and evidence of suitability based on portfolio

International students

Proven equivalence to domestic entry requirements and IELTS 6.0 (no band lower than 5.5)
