    Summary

    Gain the understanding and expertise to work in today’s ever-changing accounting industry with UCOL’s Bachelor of Applied Management (Accounting).

    With practical industry experience built into this three-year programme, as well as workplace assignments and case studies, UCOL's Bachelor of Applied Management (Accounting) students are well prepared for a career in accounting.

    The concept of applied management is core to the degree, where students apply knowledge, skills and capabilities in a variety of ways and contexts.

    The Bachelor of Applied Management degree has professional accreditation with Chartered Accountants New Zealand (CAANZ) and Certified Professional Accountants Australia (CPA Australia) for students who undertake the Accounting CA major.

    Students can elect to complete the New Zealand Diploma in Business (Accounting) Level 5 as the first year of the Bachelor of Applied Management (Accounting) degree.

    Course Information

    Some of the following courses are optional and may depend on whether you choose the CA Foundation, CPA Foundation or ACA Pathway within the Accounting major.

    Accreditation

    The programme is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and Universal College of Learning (UCOL) Trading as Universal College of Learning (UCOL) is accredited to teach it.

    Entry criteria

    Applicants under 20 years of age:

    University entrance requirements comprise NCEA Level 3 - (80 credits, 60 of which are at Level 3 or above).

    Three subjects at Level 3 or above made up of 14 credits each in three approved subjects
    Literacy - 10 Credits at Level 2 or above made up of 5 Credits in reading and 5 Credits in writing
    Numeracy - 10 Credits at Level 1 or above made up of:

    Achievement Standards - specified Achievement standards through a range of subjects, or
    Unit Standards - a package of three Numeracy Unit Standards: 26623, 26626, 26627 (all three required).

    Or equivalent academic achievement, such as:

    New Zealand Certificate in Business (Small Business)
    New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management)
    New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) - Level 4

    Or on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean.

    Or a provisional enrolment.

    International students will be assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure they meet New Zealand University Entrance requirements.

    International student applicants whose first language is not English must have an IELTS (or equivalent including TOEFL) score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5. UCOL is a TOEFL iBT testing centre. The English Proficiency test is accepted for English language entry into all UCOL programmes.

    Under 20 years of age:
    For international applicants under 20 years of age who do not hold NCEA, International Academic Qualifications Entry Criteria apply.
