This highly applied degree course focuses on three key areas of employability – Networking, Software Development or Web Design and Development – giving you the option to specialise in the field of your choice. Or, you can opt for a broader qualification by choosing no specialisation.

Throughout the degree you continuously put into practice what you learn through hands-on, practical projects, and work with real industry clients to help solve real problems in the workplace.

Depending on your specialisation you could be building apps, websites, cloud-based services, content management systems or complex systems integrating a range of technologies. You could even be creating your own website themes and plugins or putting in place a firewall security system.

As the demand for smart, adaptable IT professionals escalates, you could take your skills and knowledge into a wide range of future careers, such as a network or security specialist, programmer, software engineer, or web designer or developer.

Entry criteria

You must have:

• NZQA University Entrance or equivalent, OR
• New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4), OR
• evidence of ability to meet academic requirements.

English Language requirements:

IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) score of 60 or higher (with a writing score of 20); TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5.0 TWE); FCE, FCE for schools, CAE with a score of 169, no less than 162 in each skill; NZCEL of Level 4 with the Academic endorsement; PToE (Academic) score of 50.
