Summary

The Master of Computer Graphic Design (MCGD) is an advanced degree focusing on graphic design theory, technology and original research. It builds on the unique combination of design and coding skills developed during the Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design (BCGD).

The MCGD provides an opportunity for you to plan, develop and carry out a large scale design research project. This will enable you to collaborate with other students and academics, and to work with members of the professional design industry. The MCGD research is represented by both a written thesis and an exhibited design realisation.

Research topics are tailored to suit your interests, providing an opportunity for you to hone a particular aspect of graphic design further, which could be a pathway to your chosen career. You will also have the full support, guidance and expertise of your supervisor during your research project.

Entry criteria

To enrol in the MCGD you should have completed a Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design (BCGD) (or equivalent) and have achieved a B average over the course of your study.

English language requirements:

IELTS - 6.5 overall (no less than 6.0 in writing); iBT (internet based TOFEL) - 90 with a score of 22 in writing; Pearson PTE Academic- 65 with English language requirements no less than 58 for each communicative skill; From Waikato Pathways College - Successful completion of Level 8 with a B grade average in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic (CAAE) programme.
