Summary

This programme is suitable for students with an undergraduate qualification who would like to increase their knowledge of a particular area of management and wish to take a slightly shorter programme than a master’s degree.

Economics will help you make the world a better place. Almost every aspect of daily life can be viewed from an economic perspective - from business, jobs, housing and economic growth, to pollution, transport, hospital waiting lists, and international trade. Economics is about the world we live in, and how everyday people respond to incentives and allocate scarce resources to meet their goals. If you're passionate about business, current affairs or finance, you will enjoy studying economics, which pulls in aspects of politics, psychology, sociology, geography, history, law and statistics. An understanding of economics, will help you look at the world in a different light and make better business and management decisions.

Entry criteria

A recognized bachelor’s degree with a B/B+ grade average. You must also have a major in the relevant subject area with a B/B+ grade average.

English language requirements:

IELTS - 6.5 overall (no less than 6.0 in writing); iBT (internet based TOFEL) - 90 with a score of 22 in writing; Pearson PTE Academic- 65 with English language requirements no less than 58 for each communicative skill; From Waikato Pathways College - Successful completion of Level 8 with a B grade average in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic (CAAE) programme.
