Summary

This unit standard based programme builds on the tertiary teaching knowledge and skills learned in the Level 5 Certificate, and cover the design, moderation, quality, management and leadership of adult education and training programmes. The National Diploma in Adult Education and Training (Level 6) is a comprehensive course that teaches the theory, skills and practise of adult education, including assessment, delivery, design and development, evaluation, 毛利 education and training, and management of adult education and training, as well as including units covering academic research and research ethics in education.

Career Opportunities

Graduates will have demonstrated expertise in the areas of assessment, delivery, design and development, evaluation, 毛利 education and training, and management of adult education and training. They will have a substantial depth of knowledge and skills in adult education and training, having met standards selected to suit personal, professional, and employment requirements.

Ideally, this qualification builds on the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 5) New Zealand Environment strand.

Satisfactory Completion

For student to be considered to have satisfactorily completed the National Diploma in Adult Education and Training (Level 6), and be eligible for award of a qualification, they must:

• Complete all scheduled course work requirements and assessments
• Successfully complete assessment requirements for all unit standards and achieved a total of 120 credits as specified.

The National Diploma in Adult Education and Training (Level 6) will be awarded by NZQA on attainment of 120 credits as specified and upon verification of the graduate’s NZQA official record of learning.

This qualification builds on the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 5).

Entry criteria

This course is suitable for people tutoring in tertiary institutes or people who have training responsibility in workplaces. Students applying for the National Diploma in Adult Education and Training (Level 6) should ideally have completed the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 5).

Applicants should have:

• A qualification and/or equivalent work experience in a vocation they teach in.
• Evidence that satisfies the teaching institution that they are capable of studying at Level 6 and successfully completing each unit standard attempted.
• Access to adults to teach.
• Current or recent knowledge of tertiary institute or workplace organisational procedures.

English Language Requirements

• IELTS test - Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5
• TOEFL Paper based test (pBT) – Score of 550 (with an essay score 5 TWE)
• TOEFL Internet- based test (iBT) – Score of 60 (with a writing score of 20)
• University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations – FCE, or FCE for schools, or CAE, or CPE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill.
• NZCEL – Level 4 with the Academic endorsement
• Pearson Test of English (Academic) – PToE (Academic) score of 50
• City and Guilds IESOL – B2 Communicator with a score of 66
