This exciting degree development is for those involved or looking to move into career planning and development with students, clients or organisations.

It has streams in education, business and coaching so you can become skilled in the area where you want to build your career.

The degree will have entry points to complement the current diploma programmes in career development if these qualifications have already been achieved:

Diploma in Career Guidance

New Zealand Diploma in Career Development

Diploma in Advanced Career Guidance

Structure & Timetable

This programme is mostly completed online with two 3 day weekend wānanga (workshops) per year.

Expect to spend around four hours per course each week to be able to successfully complete this programme.

There is one weekend wānanga in each semester in the year that run Friday through to Sunday. They are likely to take place in mid-March and November.

They will cover material from several of your courses over that weekend.

Entry criteria

Academic requirements

If you are seeking entry at Level 5, you are required to have:

a) University Entrance which is NCEA Level 3 comprised of 60 credits at NCEA Level 3 or above and 20 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above, including:

i) 14 credits each at NCEA Level 3 in three approved subjects; and

ii) Literacy (10 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above made up of 5 credits each in reading and writing); and

iii) Numeracy (10 credits at NCEA Level 1 or (above)

Or

b) A relevant qualification at Level 4 on the NZQF;

Or

c) Equivalent.

English language requirements

You must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those learners whose first language is not English must have:

An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each band) issued within the last two years, or equivalent.
