Summary
Prepare yourself for employment in the merchant navy on vessels of any size, operating anywhere in the world.
This programme is a significant part of the Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) training requirements for students to gain the internationally recognised Standards of Training and Certification of Watch keepers (STCW) Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch Class 3 certificate of competency or Maritime New Zealand Seafarer Certification and Operational Limits Framework Class 4 certificate of competency.
STCW Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch Class 3 certificate of competency
Provides the domestic and international maritime industry, with marine engineers who are able to work in an engineering capacity as Engineer Officer of the Watch on merchant navy vessels.
MNZ Seafarer Certification and Operation Limits Framework Class 4 certificate of competency
Provides the domestic maritime industry, with marine engineers who are able to work in an engineering capacity as Chief Engineer.

Pathway
This Diploma will enable you to pathway into the Level 7 degree courses leading to Marine Engineering Officer Qualifications.

Academic Requirements
There are no minimum academic requirements for entry.
English Language Requirements
All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to undertake this programme, which is taught and assessed in English. Those students whose first language is not English should have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 6.0 (with no band lower than 5.5), issued within the last two years, or equivalent.
