Summary

This programme is designed to give you a taster of many different programme areas so you can choose the career that is right for you.

You’ll also get to do cool stuff in the outdoors with adventure based learning and team building.

You’ll be taught by awesome tutors who want to make sure you succeed and have a good time while you do it.

These courses can pathway into many other NMIT programmes such as Carpentry, Automotive, Adventure Tourism, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Fitness and heaps more.

This programme is not the equivalent to NCEA Level 1.

Lily chose the Fashion and Media stream she says, "I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of leaving school or someone who is a bit stuck with not finding a job. Because I was in that position and did not know what to do and the course really helped me a lot and helped me get a job."

This programme finishes in the middle of the year so you can go onto study another programme or the level 2 of this programme that gives you more time to do bigger projects like boat building or building a grass kart.

Choose your stream

When you study on this programme, you get to choose one of three streams. There are some things that will be taught across all three streams, and some courses specific to the stream you choose.

Trades

In this stream you will get to learn practical skills in carpentry, automotive, engineering, hospitality and adventure tourism.

Aquaculture

Through this stream you will learn aquaculture, adventure tourism and hospitality.

Fashion and Media

In this stream you will learn about fashion and media, adventure tourism and hospitality.
