Programme highlights
The New Zealand Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy (Vocational/Workplace) Level 5 celebrates diversity, 毛利 and Pasifika learner frameworks and meeting learner needs through learner-centered design with embedded literacy and numeracy at its core. A 20 credit cross credit to NZCATT is available on successful completion of NZCALNE.
NZCALNE is offered to suit part time learners in a blended delivery format that includes online learning, some face to face and the development of evidence into an e-portfolio for you to use post course for reference and job progression opportunities.
Career opportunities
Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge for roles such as a vocational or workplace educator and trainer with the ability to embed literacy and numeracy into their programme.

The Literacy and Numeracy Journey in Aotearoa
To explore adult literacy and numeracy education in Aotearoa
Learner-Centred Design
To develop learner centred design skills including mapping, embedding and evaluating adult literacy and numeracy processes in a variety of vocational and educational settings.
Celebrating Diversity
To develop an appreciation of the diversity of learners in Aotearoa, New Zealand and the importance of cultural competency when applying adult literacy and numeracy frameworks.
Learner Adult Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Tools
Develop skills in using appropriate adult literacy and numeracy assessment tools within vocational and/or educational settings.
Further training or study
Entry criteria
Be recognised as an adult educator currently teaching on a programme in their own field,
OR
Have a training/coaching role in industry or the community, in which they engage with adults. These applicants will be required to supply attestations and other evidence supporting their application.
AND
Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 or no band lower than 5.
AND
Hold a Level 4 nationally recognised qualification, or equivalent (if equivalent, applicants may be required to attend an interview to determine their suitability to study on this level 5 programme).
English language requirements
Provisional Entry
Students who have attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the minimum entry requirements for a programme will be eligible to be enrolled as a student where their previous educational, work or life experience indicates they have a reasonable likelihood of success. Students who have not attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the required minimum entry requirements for a programme may also be eligible to enrol in exceptional circumstances. Such decisions will be made by the Faculty Dean.
