Summary
The Bachelor of Arts prepares you for a huge range of careers, and you can build your degree in a way that suits you – study a single or a double major, select from a wide range of minors or add elective papers from another area of study. Throughout your Bachelor of Arts you’ll develop effective communication, critical thinking and analysis skills, as well as the ability to research and present professionally. These skills are key to any professional role.
Interested in learning and how it relates to culture, community, social media and social justice? We’ve all been to school and probably all have a view on education. The Bachelor of Arts in Education re-examines these views.
It’s a great pathway for a number of careers in fields involved in education policy or strategic development, or for further study to become a teacher. Because this major is part of the Bachelor of Arts, it’s easy to combine it with many other aspects of society and culture. Choose from majors in areas as diverse as education, social sciences, psychology, international studies, 毛利 development, event management or languages.

Career opportunities:
Studying education can prepare you for a range of careers. There's a direct pathway into teaching as you will qualify for the one-year Master of Teaching and Learning (Primary Teaching) which leads to teacher registration. If you have teaching subjects to the appropriate level in your BA (Education is not a teaching subject), you can apply for the Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching.

Entry criteria
Applicants must be 18 years old and have obtained a qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13.
Preferred New Zealand school subjects
All subjects are useful, in particular Classical Studies, English, Geography, History, History of Art, Media Studies and other languages.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Computer-based: Total score of 213 with a minimum essay rating of 4.0; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; GIE with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
