Teachers play an essential role in motivating, inspiring and educating the people who will go on to shape the future of our society. AUT's education programmes include 22 weeks of teaching placements, so you can get first-hand experience in the workplace and graduate with confidence in your skills.

If you want to become a mainstream primary or intermediate school teacher, the Bachelor of Education (Primary Teaching) provides you with the skills to teach in mainstream primary teaching settings.

Entry criteria
Applicants must be 18 years old and have obtained a qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13.
Must meet Education Council of Aotearoa New Zealand requirements
Must meet Vulnerable Children Act requirements

Selection criteria
Interview, numeracy and literacy competency assessment, CV and experience working with young children
English Language requirements:
IELTS (Academic) with a band score of 7.0 in each component OR A level 7 degree from a New Zealand or Australian University OR Two years of secondary schooling in New Zealand and UE literacy at level 2 NCEA with 5 credits in reading and 5 credits in writing; TOEFL score Internet-based: Total score of 80; Computer-based: Total score of 213 with a minimum essay rating of 4.0; Pearson Test of English: Total score of 50.
