Summary
Study health sciences with us and we’ll help you develop the skills to meet the changing needs of global healthcare. AUT is New Zealand’s largest and most diverse health education provider.

Health promoters work with communities and services across cultural settings to ensure that health services are accessible and affordable, and advocate for policies that improve health. Studying health promotion prepares you for this exciting career.
Health promoters understand the link between people's health and wellbeing and where they live and work, how they learn, eat and play, their background and their lifestyle.
Through the Health Promotion major you address major health and social issues including child poverty, smoking, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, depression, alcohol and drug harm, and family violence.

Entry criteria
Applicants must be 18 years old and have obtained a qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13.
They must be capable of meeting Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA Act) requirements and a Police clearance.
Applicants with two or more years of secondary and/or tertiary education outside New Zealand must meet IELTS requirements and will be interviewed.
Selection criteria
Preference will be given to applicants with the highest level of academic achievement and/or evidence of accomplishments in the relevant field
Interview may be required
English Language Requirements:
Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Computer-based: Total score of 213 with a minimum essay rating of 4.0; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; GIE with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
