Summary

The Master of Design is a one and a half year (full-time) research degree aimed at developing high level design expertise. The Master of Design provides the opportunity for you to research design through selecting to undertake 60 points of coursework and a 120 point thesis or 90 points of coursework and a 90 point research project. Each option can be tailored to suit your research interests.

Selecting a Virtual Production pathway through the MDes will enable you to create a study plan that critically engages with a range of emerging and innovative digital production technologies, processes and practices that create interfaces between the real and virtual. Areas you could specialise in are:

• Cinematic and Post-Cinematic Practices

• Screen dance
• Visual Effects
• Future Pedagogy
• Gaming
• Sound Design for VR
• Interactive Art and Design Practices

Students studying on a Virtual Production pathway will also have access to the MOCAP suite and sound studio.

Entry criteria

Applicants must have completed the Bachelor of Design or equivalent with a B grade average or higher in the papers at level 7 or above.

English Language requirements:

Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
