Summary
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree is undertaken by research only. There is no compulsory coursework involved. The PhD is an advanced postgraduate degree that is particularly suitable for students wishing to pursue an academic or research career. A successful candidate will make a significant original contribution to the body of knowledge in relation to a contemporary issue in health and environmental research. Students will have supervisors to guide and advise them, with one assigned as the primary supervisor.
A PhD qualifies students as experts in their fields. The opportunities to apply this knowledge will be extensive, both in industry and academia.
Research areas
Staff in the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences supervise PhD research on a wide range of topics. Research areas for Doctoral include, but are not limited to:

Entry criteria
The degree must have a standard equivalent to first class or second class (first division) honours. The degree should include advanced learning in research, execution of a research project and a written report on the research.
English Language requirements:
Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
