A BSc (Agricultural Science) will help you gain the skills to improve productivity and sustainability of agricultural systems, in New Zealand and around the world.

What is it Like?

The Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Science) will help you understand modern farming, and give you a sound foundation in agriculture for careers in the primary product sector.

A broad scientific education

You will share courses in areas such as soils, plants, animals and agricultural systems with classmates from the Bachelor of Agriscience and your other classes will be in sciences.

Broad range of topics

Topics include animal production, agricultural systems, land, soil and water, seed science, weed control, animal nutrition, genetics for livestock improvement, meat and fiber production, dairy production, pasture and crop agronomy, sheep production, soil fertility and fertilizers , pasture management and plant protection.

Entry criteria

Students must have successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance.

It is strongly recommended (but not compulsory) that students beginning their study of Agricultural Science have a sound background in chemistry and biology and particularly mathematics at NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent).

English Language Requirements:

• IELTS score of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5)
• TOEFL iBT score of 80 overall (min 19 in Writing)
• PTE Academic score of 50 Overall (min 42 in communicative skills)
• Cambridge English score of 170
