Master of Education structure

The Master of Education is a 180 credit parts-based programme. Students who have completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, in the same subject area may be admitted directly to Part Two if the required minimum grade average is achieved in the PGDipEd and complete 120 credits.

Students completing 180 credits at 700/800-level, comprising:

Completion of Part One and Part Two as specified in the Schedule;

At least 150 credits from the Schedule;

Including at least 15 credits (one course) (Coursework Pathway) or 30 credits (two courses) (Research Pathway) of research methods course(s) as listed in the Regulations;

Students that have been admitted with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (and are ineligible to surrender this qualification) shall complete at least 120 credits, comprising:

Part Two as specified in the Schedule;

At least 30 credits at 700-level, including at least 15 credits (Coursework Pathway) or 30 credits (Research Pathway) of research methods course(s) as listed in the Schedule for the Qualification.

Entry criteria

Before enrolling for this Degree, you shall:

• meet the University admission requirements as specified, and shall have:
• been awarded or qualified for the Bachelor of Education with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B, or equivalent; or
• been awarded or qualified for any other Bachelors degree with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B, or equivalent, and hold a professional qualification in teaching; or
• been awarded or qualified for any other Bachelors degree with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B, or equivalent, and have professional experience relevant to the intended postgraduate subject; or
• been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or equivalent, with a grade average across all courses of at least B (Coursework pathway) or at least a B+ (Research pathway).

English language requirements:

• IELTS score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
• TOEFL iBT score of 90 overall (min 20 in Writing)
• PTE Academic score of 58 Overall (min 50 in communicative skills)
• Cambridge English score of 180
