Programme overview
You can take the one-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) as a qualification in its own right after a Bachelor of Arts, or as a pathway to a one-year Master of Arts.

German is the native language of more than 90 million people. It is an important language of trade, with Germany the third largest economy and second largest exporter in the world.
Knowledge of German also gives you access to a rich literary, intellectual and cultural tradition. German thought and culture has made a major contribution to Western science, philosophy, theology, music and art.
Postgraduate courses in German include language acquisition, German literature from the eighteenth century to the present, and German language teaching and translation.
There are opportunities to undertake research in German studies ranging from literature to the German connection with New Zealand and the Pacific.

Entry criteria
A BA with a major in German. You must have an average grade of B or higher in 45 points above Stage II in the major.
