Programme overview

You can take the one-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) as a qualification in its own right after a Bachelor of Arts, or as a pathway to a one-year Master of Arts.

Sociology explores topical social issues and seeks to understand the modern world.

In Sociology we are interested in how the individual relates to society and how societies change across time. You can examine and analyse different aspects of modern society, eg, popular culture and the media, sexuality, ethnic identities, crime, religion, social justice and the family.

Sociology and your career

Sociology develops analytical and research skills. Sociology graduates have careers in policy analysis, central and local government, the media and journalism, social and health research, business, marketing and union advocacy.
