    Summary

Pursue a flexible business degree and gain strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills. A wide range of conjoint options are available.

    Programme overview

You will complete a set of core courses. These include an exciting two course sequence in Business and Enterprise. These will introduce the types of choices facing entrepreneurs and managers and help you develop your academic and professional skills.

Your first year core programme will provide a strong base from which to launch into your chosen major or majors. A double major will enable you to gain greater breadth and increase your career options by combining two sets of courses at advanced level.

    Why study Innovation and Entrepreneurship?

Develop an understanding of how to test innovative ideas, products or processes, how to finance start-up ventures, and how to sell and market new products and services in New Zealand and internationally.

    Complementary majors

A double major combines two specialist fields of study. It enhances your career prospects. Innovation and Entrepreneurship complements majors in all other business related disciplines, especially:

    • Marketing
    • Finance
    • Operations and Supply Chain Management

    What are the career paths?

Become an entrepreneur, business consultant or strategic business analyst, or take up a senior role in business or industry.

    Programme structure

The BCom offers Innovation and Entrepreneurship as a single major or as a double major alongside one of the other majors offered within the BCom. It is recommended that Innovation and Entrepreneurship is studied as part of a double major combination. You can also study the Bachelor of Commerce in Innovation and Entrepreneurship as part of a conjoint degree programme where you study for two degrees at once.

A BCom with a single major is a three-year degree programme. You will be required to complete a minimum of 24 courses (360 points). A set of seven compulsory core courses (105 points) in your first year of study will become the building blocks for your degree. With careful planning you can complete a double major.
