BE (Hons) in Chemical and Materials Engineering
The BE (Hons) Chemical and Materials Engineering degree offered at The University of Auckland provides many study options and sub-specializations to ensure a world-class degree tailored to fit your needs.
The degree is internationally recognised due to its accreditation by the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand, the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and the UK Engineering Council.
The degree requires four years of intensive study with both academic and project style courses to provide a well rounded education.
The first year (Part I) includes the core engineering courses to provide a solid base for the following years and includes courses on mathematics, materials science, and engineering design.
During the second year (Part II), study contains more chemical and process engineering including energy and design process, crucial to the degree is a course given on technical communication for engineers.
The third year (Part III) concentrates on materials processing and performance as well as chemical reactor engineering. It also provides leadership skills in the course management for engineers.
The final year (Part IV) contains a high emphasis on practical work with design and research projects taking up a large amount of the year.
The hands on skills that these courses provide, some of which are supported by local industry enable an applied learning style and involvement in the current challenges in the engineering field.
