    BE (Hons) in Mechatronics Engineering

Students take courses from the different subjects of mechanical, electrical and computer engineering. Core mechatronics subjects include software design, sensors and actuators, signal processing, analog and digital circuit design, microcontroller systems, systems modelling, digital control and industrial automation.

Part I (first year) is made up of courses covering a broad base of engineering and professional fundamentals.

In Part II (year 2) the emphasis is on mechanical engineering.

In Part III (year 3) the balance between mechanical, electrical and computer engineering courses is almost equal.

The balance in the final year (Part IV) of study will depend on the choice of electives of the student and the final year project.

A particular feature of the degree programme is the strong emphasis placed on design and project work, in which students acquire the ability to apply their knowledge to the development of new products, and develop skills in teamwork and communication.
