Summary

The Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) programme offers training for medical students or recent medical graduates.

Programme overview

This intercalated research degree is available to medical students who have completed at least the first three years of their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), and passed the courses for MBChB Part III.

It provides you with a unique opportunity to undertake original research and gain in-depth knowledge in a particular field of medical science.

It’s a pathway for students interested in pursuing postgraduate studies at masters and PhD level, and enhances graduate's career and study options.

Programme structure

120-point programme with two options:

Advanced taught courses from a selected schedule of courses approved by the Head of School of Medicine (30 points) and Thesis (90 points) Or

Thesis (120 points)

One consecutive year full-time or up to two consecutive years part-time.

Entry criteria

You must have completed an undergraduate degree in medicine and surgery (or similar field of study) at a recognised university (or similar institution). You will require a GPE of 5.0 or higher in 75% of your most advanced-level courses.

IELTS 6.5; TOEFL (iBT) 90; TOEFL (paper-based) 575; CAE or CPE 176; PTE 58; MELAB 85.
