    Summary

    Engage in advanced scholarship and contribute your own research to the existing knowledge in your field.

    In a research masters you can contribute to the existing knowledge in your field by defining and managing a research project alongside some of New Zealand’s leading scholars.

    In a taught masters you can deepen your knowledge in small classes with these leading scholars and complete a smaller research project such as a dissertation.

    Gender Studies

    Gender Studies is a rapidly expanding interdisciplinary field of critical inquiry into how gender shapes our lives.

    You can take courses across multiple disciplines to develop an understanding of how the social and cultural constructions of masculinities and femininities function in human society.

    Gender Studies and your career

    Understanding the complexity of gender can be useful in a number of careers, including public relations, counselling and mediation, psychology, teaching, public policy, community work, politics, entertainment and more.

    The MA in Gender Studies is available as a 120-point, one-year option. Students who have completed a BA(Hons) or equivalent qualification in an appropriate subject, with a Grade Point Average of 5 in 45 points above Stage II, may be approved for enrolment in the MA in Gender Studies.

    120-point (one-year) MA

    The 120-point MA requires one year of full-time study, with admission from a BA(Hons) or PGDipArts. The MA in Gender Studies is available as a research masters.
