Engage in advanced scholarship and contribute your own research to the existing knowledge in your field.
In a research masters you can contribute to the existing knowledge in your field by defining and managing a research project alongside some of New Zealand’s leading scholars.
In a taught masters you can deepen your knowledge in small classes with these leading scholars and complete a smaller research project such as a dissertation.
Languages and Literature
Postgraduate programmes in Languages and Literature enable you to continue the study of two languages and literatures at graduate level. Areas of study are: Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Maori, Spanish.
The emphasis is on further development of language competence, literary study and, where available, linguistic study. Research essays or projects are an important component of postgraduate programmes.
Languages and Literature differs from Comparative Literature in that it requires language study and does not require comparative work between the two languages and literatures. You may also be interested in Comparative Literature.
