Summary

The programmes have been designed to allow students living anywhere in New Zealand to enrol as most of the material will be presented on-line (supplemented by face-to-face weekend workshops for some courses).

The focus of the Master of Clinical Pharmacy (MClinPharm) is research and the degree will enable pharmacists to carry out research in the context of their practice setting and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in pharmacy and to evaluate developments in the practice of pharmacy.

Graduates of the Master of Clinical Pharmacy programme will be able to:

• Advance knowledge in clinical pharmacy through research
• Evaluate innovations and advances in clinical pharmacy practice and medicines management services.

Content:

Students are required to enrol in and complete one of the following courses (120 points) following successful completion of the PGDipClinPharm:

PHARMACY 796 Research Thesis (120 points)

One-year equivalent of original research in a relevant area of the student’s practice or

PHARMACY 797 Research Portfolio (120 Points)

Supervised research that represents the personal scholarly work of a student based on a coherent area of enquiry. Culminates in a conclusive piece of work related to a specific area of specialization or aspect of practice in health.

Once you start this programme you will need to enrol continuously (each semester) until the programme is finished. If you need to take a break you must apply for a suspension.

This programme has a total enrolment clause of 160 points. This is the maximum number of points you can enrol in (including failed or withdrawn courses) towards this programme.

Entry criteria

Research 120 points: You must have completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy with a GPA of 5.0 or higher.

Research 240 points: You must have completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy with a GPA of 5.0 or higher in your final year.
