The MEngSt allows students with academic engineering backgrounds to expand their existing theoretical and practical skills. It is flexible – you can study either full-time or part-time, undertake either a primarily coursework or research-focused programme, and choose from sixteen distinct specialisations.
This programme ultimately requires an in-depth exploration of your chosen topic. You will demonstrate the high-quality critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are sought-after by employers worldwide, or consider this as foundation for further study.
Chemical and Materials Engineering
The Master of Engineering Studies in Chemical and Materials Engineering is a taught masters which is entirely course based.
The programme is aimed at students with an academic engineering background who wish to continue their studies at an advanced level, develop an advanced technical foundation and gain an industrial perspective within the field of Chemical and Materials Engineering.

45 points from: CHEMMAT 713, 721, 724, 752, 771, 772, 773, MECHENG 741,742.
Up to 75 points from CHEMMAT 712, 716, 722, 753, 754, 756, 757.
With the prior approval of the Head of Department, up to 45 points may be replaced by other appropriate 600 and 700 level courses offered at this or another university.

Entry criteria
To be admitted to this programme, an applicant should have completed the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) or an equivalent qualification. Students who have an appropriate three year bachelors degree may also apply with prior approval of the Head of Department.
