Summary
The Master of Science (MSc) programme enables you to pursue advanced study in your area of interest with the opportunity to work on independent research.
Programme overview
Studying for an MSc is an opportunity for committed scientists to focus on a relevant area of interest or practise and pursue an advanced qualification. While taught masters will provide you with specialist training in your chosen field, a research masters will develop advanced research skills, working alongside Faculty of Science researchers - many of whom are major contributors in their field.
Environmental Management
Environmental Management emphasizes the use of interdisciplinary knowledge to move toward sustainable development. The goal is to provide students with a sound understanding of the ecological, social, economical and institutional factors that underlie environmental problems and drive change.
The programmes offer a comprehensive range of environmental management courses that look at the knowledge, tools and methods that can solve environmental problems and monitor success. The core courses and some of the electives are taught in modular form to encourage participation by people already in the workforce.
Career opportunities
The number of jobs in the environmental field is increasing due to economic, social and legislative factors. Our graduates are employed by industries, environmental consultancies, tertiary institutes and universities, and regulatory authorities at local, regional and national level, both in New Zealand and overseas.
