Summary
Enables clinical teachers to become excellent educators and researchers in clinical education.
Programme overview
The programmes are of particular relevance to doctors involved in delivering medical undergraduate or specialist training programmes, clinical nurse educators, and other health professionals with a role in education.
Offers a range of courses on topics including the core principles of educational theory, curriculum planning, clinical teaching, simulation, e-learning, evaluation and assessment and current trends in clinical education

Programme structure
To be completed within one year if enrolled full-time and four years if enrolled part-time.
You can choose from two options:
Option 1
120 points
Choose an advanced taught course covering topics in clinical teaching and practice (either CLINED 715 Theory and Practice of Clinical Education or NURSING 741 Education for Clinical Practice) (30 points)
Advanced level courses primarily focusing in clinical education (30 points)
A selection of elective courses from clinical education, nursing and population health (30 points)
A selection of courses approved by the Head of School of Medicine (30 points)
Option 2
120 points
Choose courses in Academic Practice (60 points)
Advanced level courses from clinical education and population health (60 points)

PGDipClinEd graduates will understand the principles of adult learning within the healthcare context. They will be skilled at curriculum planning, evaluation and assessment and will demonstrate their position as leaders and innovators in health professionals education.

Entry criteria
Entry to the Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education is limited to 34 students per year.
You must normally have completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education.
