This programme offers further study in education and professional practice and can qualify graduates for an advanced salary status. It will enable you to explore and investigate applied areas of education such as learning and teaching, 毛利 education, literacy education, mentoring, research and evaluation.

Reading Recovery

Reading Recovery is an effective early literacy intervention designed to significantly reduce the number of children with literacy difficulties in schools. Low-achieving six-year-old children have daily individual teaching with a specially trained teacher and within a short time are brought to average levels of achievement for their classes.

Reading Recovery operates at three levels in an education system:

The school, where the Reading Recovery teacher teaches children.

The district or region, where the tutor trains the teachers.

The national level, where Reading Recovery trainers train tutors and support the national implementation.

Entry criteria

You must have completed one of the following at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 3.0: an undergraduate degree in education; an advanced diploma in teaching and three years' teaching experience.

If you are applying for the Reading Recovery Specialisation* you must have completed an undergraduate degree in education (teaching) and have at least three years’ relevant employment experience (such as a successful junior class teaching experience).

English language requirements:
IELTS 6.5; TOEFL (iBT) 90; TOEFL (paper-based) 575; CAE or CPE 176; PTE 58; MELAB 85.
