Course details
Summary
The Postgraduate Diploma in Child-Centred Practice (PGDipCCP) requires at least twelve months of full-time study. The aim of this interdisciplinary postgraduate programme is to develop the knowledge and skills of a range of professionals who work with and who have an interest in studying current policy and practice issues which affect the well-being and rights of children.
Candidates for the programme are required to have a degree or professional qualification (of at least three years full-time or equivalent part-time study), relevant to working with children and families.
The diploma aims to prepare graduates for careers in leading, administering and managing policy and practice relating to children's advocacy and well-being.

Note: Admission to CHIC 480 requires approval from the Director of the Centre for Research on Children and Families.
Structure of the Programme
The programme shall consist of papers to the value of 120 points. With the approval of the Programme Director, approved papers at an equivalent level may be substituted for 30 points.
Entry criteria
Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Board of the Division of Humanities.
Every applicant shall either
English Language Requirements: IELTS - Score of 6.5 in the academic module (with no individual band below 6.0); Internet-based TOEFL Score of 95 with a minimum writing score of 22.; Paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 587 (TWE 4.5); Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – Overall score of 176 (with no individual band below 169); Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) – Overall score of 176 (with no individual band below 169); APIEL Advanced Placement International English Language Examination - Grade 4 or higher; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic - Overall score of 64 with no communicative skills score below 57; University of Otago Foundation Studies Ltd: Completion of 'English for Postgraduate Academic Purposes' with a grade of C or higher.
