Summary

Learn the maths and physics that lie at the heart of electronics and mechatronics. Find out why electronic components act the way they do, and study programming and computer science. You'll work on group projects where you'll design and make electronic and mechatronic tools like robots, or medical devices like heart sensors.

Course Structure

For this degree you'll need to:

Complete at least 360 points, of which:

• At least 270 points must be from courses listed for the BSc
• At least 210 points must be from 200 and 300-level courses, including:
• At least 150 points must be from courses listed for the BSc
• At least 75 points must be from 300-level courses listed for the BSc

Courses listed for other degrees may be counted as being BSc courses, including:

• A maximum of 30 points if taken to satisfy a BSc major
• A maximum of 30 points if taken to satisfy a second major from another first degree at this university
• A maximum of 60 points across both these categories
• Complete one course in MATH, PHYS, QUAN, STAT (or an approved equivalent) at any level
• Complete one approved course that demonstrates competency in oral and written communications

In addition to the degree requirements, for this major you'll need to complete:

Four course at 100 level:

• Either Introduction to Computer Program Design (COMP 102) or Introduction to Computer Science (COMP 112)
• Either Engineering Mathematics Foundations (ENGR 121) and Engineering Mathematics with Calculus (ENGR 122)
• Or Calculus 1B (MATH 142) and Algebra (MATH 151)
• Either Engineering Physics for Electronics and Computer Systems (ENGR 142) or Physics 1B (PHYS 115)
• Physics 1A (PHYS 114)

Four courses at 200 level:

• Three courses from ECEN 201-239

One further approved course from:

• COMP 200-299
• ECEN 201-239
• MATH 200-299
• NWEN 200-299
• SWEN 200-299
• Four courses from ECEN 300-399

Entry criteria

To be accepted into this degree you need:

• Achievement of the International Baccalaureate Diploma
• Successful completion of the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC) with an average of 75 per cent or higher overall
• Successful completion of the India School Certificate (ISC) with an average of 75 per cent or higher overall

Other English Language requirements:

• IELTS: minimum overall score of 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5
• TOEFL: minimum overall score of 80 (internet-based test)
• Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a 'Communicative score' of not less than 50)
• EPP: minimum final scores of 4,4,4,3
• A grade of 65% or higher in English in the AISSC or ISC.
