    Summary

Enhance your Bachelor of Tourism Management with advanced theoretical and practical study and research.

Take a closer look into the world of tourism management and explore specialist subject areas like understanding consumer behaviour and planning for the future of tourism. Learn the techniques for research and analysis and conduct your own research into an aspect of tourism that interests you. Your studies might involve some work with industry and you'll learn to problem solve real-life issues.

You'll be studying with the School of Management - a leading management school in New Zealand with an international reputation for high-quality scholarship and strong links with industry leaders in both the public and private sectors. If you want to work for a large tourism organisation or just improve your career prospects in the tourism industry, then the BTM(Hons) is a good option for you.

    International recognition:

The Bachelor of Tourism Management with Honours has been awarded Tourism Education Quality (TedQual) certification by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation. This means you can be sure you're receiving quality tourism education and getting the right skills you need to work in the industry.

    How you'll study:

Much of your time will be spent carrying out focused, self-directed study and guided individual research. You'll also attend workshops and seminars - some of which will be student-led.

    Workload:

If you are studying full time, you can expect a workload of 40-45 hours a week for much of the year. You can estimate your workload by adding up the number of points you'll be doing. One point is roughly equal to 10-12 hours' work.

    Get a Master's degree:

At the end of Honours, you can apply to continue your studies to gain a Master of Tourism Management.
