    Qualification family structure

    The Master of Information Management is part of a tiered family of qualifications:

    • Master of Information Management
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Information Management
    • Postgraduate Certificate in Information Management

    Choose the qualification that suits your career goals, time constraints and financial situation.

    Stair casing allows movement in both directions if you begin by enrolling in the Certificate or Diploma programme you can continue on to complete your Master's. Or if you enrol in the Master's but can't complete it, for whatever reason, you may have enough points to be awarded a Certificate or Diploma.

    What you'll study

    Your MIM will provide you with a broad understanding of information management and encourage personal development and exploration. Your studies will include:

    • Two core courses you'll learn about communication and critical thinking in information management, and management in the new information age.
    • Eight other courses choose from a wide variety of courses according to your interests and career goals in subjects like managing IT change, IT security, managing big data and analytics, and emerging information technologies. These courses change regularly to include fast-developing subjects.
    • A case study you'll do your own investigation into an IT management issue relevant to your career goals.

    The Diploma programme requires you do the two core courses and six more courses of your choice, and Certificate students do the two core courses and choose a further two.

    Entry criteria

    To be accepted into this degree you need:

    • A Bachelor's degree
    • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in IT-related professional roles
    • To be accepted by the programme director as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study

    Other English Language requirements:

    • Minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5, with writing score of 7.0 with no subscore below 6.0
    • TOEFL 90 (IBT) with a minimum of 27 in writing
    • Victoria University English Proficiency Programme final scores ‘4,4,5,5’ with writing ‘5’.
