Summary

The Bachelor of Science with Honours degree is made up of one full-time year of coursework that includes a research component. Subject areas range from Astronomy to Statistics and a student may complete the programme in two subjects if desired (combined honours).

Further study

Students who complete the Bachelor of Science with Honours with high grades may be eligible to proceed directly to a Doctor of Philosophy. UC also offers a raft of science-related master's programmes.

Career opportunities

UC science graduates find work in a range of different fields and sectors. Depending on your chosen path, you can become anything from a seismologist to a soil technician, meteorologist to a marine biologist, psychologist to a policy advisor, software engineer to a science writer, forensic analyst to a food technician.

Entry criteria

Candidates must have completed a three-year Bachelor of Science degree with a high level of achievement in appropriate subjects and/or courses.

Students who have been granted direct entry to 200-level undergraduate Bachelor of Science courses on the basis of high achievement in university entrance assessments may undertake a Bachelor of Science with Honours after two years' undergraduate study.

Other English language requirements: TOEFL PBT with a minimum score of 550 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5; CCEL EAP Level 2 with a minimum C+ grade; CAE or CPE minimum score of 169 with at least 162 in reading, writing, listening and speaking; Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE with an overall score of 57 and no PTE communicative skills score below 50.
