- A Bachelors degree with a major in Education and at least 135 points in Psychology, with at least 45 points in Psychology at 200 level, and 60 points in Psychology at 300 level or above: or
- Any relevant Bachelors degree and a Graduate Diploma of Arts or Science in Psychology;
- and
- PSYC 206 Research Design and Statistics or other research methods paper deemed equivalent.
Course details
Summary
The Masters degree (Master of Science in Child and Family Psychology or an approved Master of Education) consists of a two-year programme, open to graduates with an appropriate background in Psychology. It provides an equivalent qualification to an MSc in Psychology for students who have a special academic, vocational or research interest in Child and Family Psychology. It is also possible for students to complete the coursework and a relevant thesis within a Master of Education (MEd) degree. (For students wishing to complete only 1 year of study, a 120-point Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Child and Family Psychology is available from Part I of the Master's schedule).
Qualification structure and duration
The Master of Arts degree consists of two parts:
Part I: Coursework
Part II: A thesis.
Honours may be awarded if the student completes within the timeframe indicated by the schedule. Distinction or Merit may be awarded if the student completes an MA by thesis-only in the timeframe indicated by the schedule and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours.
Duration
The minimum period of enrolment is:
Part I and Part II: 12 months full-time (or 24 months part-time)
Part II only: 24 months full-time (or 48 months part-time)

Other English language requirements: TOEFL PBT with a minimum score of 575 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5; CCEL EAP Level 2 with a minimum B+ grade; CAE or CPE score of 176 with a minimum of 169 in reading, writing, listening and speaking; Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE with an overall score of 64 and no PTE communicative skills score below 58.
