Course details
Summary
Financial management is a significant discipline that is practiced by thousands of professionals around the globe and has a major impact on organizational and economic performance.
The new Master of Financial Management (MFM) at UC equips graduates without an accounting or finance background with specialist knowledge and skills, applicable to managing financial processes and information in today’s fast-paced business world.
Courses will draw on academic research to provide students with historically and culturally grounded knowledge in accounting and financial management. Students will engage with academics researching financial management and related subjects, and will also have the opportunity to undertake applied research.
The MFM sits within the Executive Development Programs and is part of a suite of taught master’s degrees that cater for graduates with a background in an unrelated field.
Qualification structure and duration
The MFM can be studied full-time over 12-15 months or part-time over a maximum of four years.
The degree consists of 180 points which is made up of nine compulsory courses (15 points each) and an applied research project (45 points).

Career opportunities
The MFM will provide students with the knowledge and skills required to be a business analyst, investment analyst and cost/management accountant; occupations that are rated by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment as having both high income potential and strong demand for graduates.
