Summary

The Master of Speech and Language Pathology is a graduate-entry professional qualification to practice as a speech language pathologist/therapist. Students generally have a background in science, linguistics, engineering, psychology, education, or health sciences and this programme provides an opportunity to enter the speech-language profession.

In the MSLP, students study the areas of clinical linguistics, evidence-based practice, introductory neuroscience, speech and language development and disorders across the lifespan, typical and atypical hearing, swallowing, fluency and voice, and professional practice.

This hands-on programme includes experiential clinical practice.

Students must pass courses with a total of 240 points from Part I and Part II. Students cannot progress to Part II until Part I has been completed.

Entry criteria

Candidates must have completed any bachelor's or master's degree (other than a degree specialising in speech and language therapy/pathology), with minimum of a B average.

In addition you must have passed one course in each of the following:

- Biology/Anatomy and Physiology

- Linguistics

- Statistics.

Where one or two prerequisites have not been met in prior study, students may take the 'missing' courses in their first year.

Other English language requirements: TOEFL PBT with a minimum score of 575 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5; CCEL EAP Level 2 with a minimum B+ grade; CAE or CPE score of 176 with a minimum of 169 in reading, writing, listening and speaking; Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE with an overall score of 64 and no PTE communicative skills score below 58.
