    Summary

    Managing the world's precious water resources requires professionals to have multidisciplinary knowledge and an integrated approach, involving scientific, political, hydrological, economic and planning skills.

    The Master of Water Resource Management will prepare graduates for a professional career in water resource management. Students learn how to develop innovative and effective methods for the sustainable management of this critical resource in New Zealand and internationally.

    Postgraduate students benefit from the teaching and research conducted by the Waterways Centre for Freshwater Management, a research centre co-based at the University of Canterbury and Lincoln University.

    The first year (Part I) of the Master of Water Resource Management comprises three core courses and other relevant courses from the schedule.

    In the second year (Part II) students undertake a research thesis with external stakeholder support and interest to provide them with experience in the sector.

    Entry criteria

    Normally the minimum requirement is a three-year bachelor's degree from a New Zealand university, or a qualification or combination of qualifications considered to be equivalent. If you gained your qualifications overseas, these will need to be assessed to make sure they are of an equivalent standard.

    Candidates for the MWaterRM require a Postgraduate Diploma in Water Resource Management or a relevant bachelor's degree.

    Other English language requirements: TOEFL PBT with a minimum score of 575 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5; CCEL EAP Level 2 with a minimum B+ grade; CAE or CPE score of 176 with a minimum of 169 in reading, writing, listening and speaking; Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE with an overall score of 64 and no PTE communicative skills score below 58.
