Summary

This programme will provide students with upper intermediate/advanced English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening which will enable them to deal effectively and confidently with most situations in an English speaking country.

What will I learn?

Students will learn a range of skills to develop their level of reading, writing, speaking and listening in English Language with an academic theme.

Career opportunities and pathways

These skills will provide a basis for progression into mainstream academic courses from the NZQF Level 5 and above.

Qualification

New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) (Level 4)

Entry criteria

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• Be 16 years of age or older on the 1st of January in the year that the student enrols, unless approved otherwise by the Programme Leader.
• The student can reasonably expect to achieve the standards required for successful completion of the programme or course.

Students require a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 with no band lower than 4, or must gain intermediate/upper-intermediate level in a test administered by an approved third party provider (such as Vital English) to gain entry into this programme or have attained NZCEL (Level 3).
