Summary

The Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance is designed for students with a bachelor's degree in any field who want to prepare themselves for a professional role in the financial services sector. In as little as eight months, students will develop the advanced knowledge and skills required for financial decision making and financial analysis.

Students who have completed their Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance with B- average can continue into the Master of Applied Finance.

STRUCTURE

To qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance, a student must successfully complete 120 points from the following papers (all papers are 15 points):

• ECON862 Statistics for Business
• FINA860 Financial Management
• FINA861 Corporate Financial Management
• FINA862 International Financial Management
• FINA863 Investment and Risk Management
• FINA864 Financial Modelling and Analysis
• MGMT861 Managing Organisations and People

Master of Applied Finance

A graduate of the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance will be able to:

a. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of applied finance professional practices (Knowledge/Understanding)

b. Use reflection to deepen knowledge of self, others and relevant professional practice at advanced levels. (Personal/Intellectual Autonomy)

c. Demonstrate advanced capability to consider relevant social, ethical, environmental and sustainability dimensions of decisions in business contexts. (Ethical/Professional Dispositions)

Entry criteria

Applicants must have completed either:

• a bachelor’s degree or graduate diploma (in any discipline) OR
• 10 years work experience combined with a work based portfolio

Admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance is subject to the approval of the Dean (or representative)

Other English Language Requirements:

Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
