Summary

The study of language, society and culture is at the core of the broad spectrum of knowledge known as the humanities. AUT's language and culture programmes focus on language in its widest sense - creative writing, English and its relationship with new media, translation and interpreting, international studies and the importance of intercultural competencies, discourse analysis and language teaching.

Papers:

Applicants must discuss their intended study sequence with the programme leader before enrolling in papers. Papers will be dependent on what major you choose.

Students can choose to major in any one of the subject areas present under

• Language & Culture
• Social Sciences & Public Policy

Entry criteria

Applicants must have completed one of the following in a relevant field:

• Bachelor's degree
• Professional qualification equivalent to a 3-year bachelor's degree
• Professional experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree or recognised professional qualification

English Language requirements:

Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; GIE with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
