You can take the one-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) as a qualification in its own right after a Bachelor of Arts, or as a pathway to a one-year Master of Arts.

Criminology
Criminology seeks to understand issues relating to crime, deviance, justice, law, culture and power.
Criminology is concerned not just with crime, but with the broader issues of social control and deviance and how these affect punishment and criminal justice.
Criminology and your career
A background in Criminology can open up career opportunities in social policy and criminal justice. You can develop analytical and research skills for many other careers.
Postgraduate study in Criminology can prepare you for a position in policy, academic research, law enforcement and corrections, as well as for further study at PhD level (a PhD in Sociology is available). A PhD could lead to a career in advanced public and private research, public policy and advocacy, or in academia.

Criminology considers various perspectives and responses in criminology and criminal justice both within New Zealand and internationally. We offer courses and research possibilities in criminological theory, criminal justice practice and crime policy.

A BA with a major in Criminology or approval of the Head of School or nominee. You must have an average grade of B or higher in 45 points above Stage II in the major.
