Programme overview
You can take the one-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) as a qualification in its own right after a Bachelor of Arts, or as a pathway to a one-year Master of Arts.

As well as deepening your knowledge in small classes with some of New Zealand’s leading scholars, you can hone advanced skills that will be an advantage in any career.
History
Studying History gives you an insight into the forces that have shaped our world and ourselves.
You can study different cultures, regions, themes and time periods to gain an appreciation of the lives and experiences of people in the past. You can also understand how societies have changed over time.
Study opportunities include New Zealand history, 毛利 and indigenous histories, pre-modern and modern Europe, American history and the histories of Asia, Australia and the Pacific.
History and your career
Our graduates have careers in government, the public service, teaching and libraries and as researchers with the Waitangi Tribunal and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage/Te Manatu Taonga. Others have continued their study of History at institutions such as Harvard University and Oxford University.

Entry criteria
A BA with a major in History. You must have an average grade of B or higher in 45 points above Stage II in the major.
