    Economics

Reasons to study Economics including career opportunities, requirements for the major and specific undergraduate courses you will study at the University of Auckland Business School.

    Why study Economics?

Economics enables you to develop and use frameworks and methods to analyse social and economic issues. You will develop an understanding of strategic decision-making and an ability to view issues within a national or international context.

A postgraduate qualification opens up further opportunities.

    Programme structure

The BCom offers Economics as a single major or as a double major alongside one of the other majors offered within the BCom. You can also study the Bachelor of Commerce in Economics as part of a conjoint degree programme where you study for two degrees at once.

A BCom with a single major is a three-year degree programme. You will be required to complete a minimum of 24 courses (360 points). A set of seven compulsory core courses (105 points) in your first year of study will become the building blocks for your degree. With careful planning you can complete a double major.
