Summary
For all current health professionals and those with a relevant undergraduate degree wishing to pursue postgraduate study in a health-related field.
This programme covers a broad range of subjects that will cater for all interests, allowing a generic personalised programme of study.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences (PGDipHSc), specializing in Advanced Nursing, is aimed at registered nurses seeking to advance their knowledge and skills. It is intended to give nurses the core generic skills and knowledge essential for advanced nursing practice in a specialist area, and preparation for research. The intent is that the postgraduate diploma will allow the nurse to develop competencies associated with advanced nursing practice.
Students who have completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences in Advanced Nursing may apply to credit the 60 pts to the diploma, and then undertake an additional 60 points in courses to complete the diploma.
This specialization is offered by the School of Nursing, and is offered in a Flexible or distance learning format.
Students wishing to complete the PGDipHSc in Advanced Nursing specialization are required to enrol in and complete the following courses, depending on the desired stream. If a student intends to proceed to a masters programme, a research methods course should be included.

Students who complete this programme with a B average may proceed to the Master of Nursing.
Entry criteria
You must have completed an undergraduate degree at a recognised university (or similar institution) in a health-related discipline such as health sciences, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, psychology, or social work. You will need a Grade Point Average (GPA) or Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) of at least 2.5.
English language requirements:
IELTS 6.5; TOEFL (iBT) 90; TOEFL (paper-based) 575; CAE or CPE 176; PTE 58; MELAB 85.
