Summary
For all current health professionals and those with a relevant undergraduate degree wishing to pursue postgraduate study in a health-related field.
This programme covers a broad range of subjects that will cater for all interests, allowing a generic personalised programme of study.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences (PGDipHSc) in Palliative Care is offered by the Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care in the School of Population Health.
Students are required to enrol in, and complete, the following courses.
At least 90 points from:
POPLHLTH 746 - Ethics Culture and Societal Approaches to Death (15 Points)
POPLHLTH 747 - Loss, Grief, and Bereavement (15 Points)
POPLPRAC 701 - Therapeutic Communication (15 Points)
POPLPRAC 720 - Psychosocial issues in Palliative Care (15 Points)
POPLPRAC 722 - Symptom Management in Palliative Care (15 Points)
POPLPRAC 723 - Advanced Symptom Management in Palliative Care (15 Points)
POPLPRAC 724 - Child and Adolescent Palliative Care (15 points)
a 15 point research course from:
POPLHLTH 701 - Research Methods in Health (15 Points)
POPLHLTH 709 - Evidence for Best Practice (15 Points)
and a 15 point optional course from the Master of Health Sciences Schedule

Entry criteria
You must have completed an undergraduate degree at a recognised university (or similar institution) in a health-related discipline such as health sciences, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, psychology, or social work. You will need a Grade Point Average (GPA) or Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) of at least 2.5.
English language requirements:
IELTS 6.5; TOEFL (iBT) 90; TOEFL (paper-based) 575; CAE or CPE 176; PTE 58; MELAB 85.
