Summary

Study the science behind our brains and our behavior. Gain insights into why people think, act and feel the way they do. Examine social behaviour, emotion, personality and motivation. You'll learn about perception - how our brains can tell red from blue or hot from cold - and discover the way we store and retrieve memories. Learn how psychological research is carried out, and how to use statistics to analyse findings in lab experiments.

Course Structure

For this degree you'll need to:

Complete at least 360 points, of which:

• At least 270 points must be from courses listed for the BSc
• At least 210 points must be from 200 and 300-level courses, including:
• At least 150 points must be from courses listed for the BSc
• At least 75 points must be from 300-level courses listed for the BSc

Courses listed for other degrees may be counted as being BSc courses, including:

• A maximum of 30 points if taken to satisfy a BSc major
• A maximum of 30 points if taken to satisfy a second major from another first degree at this university
• A maximum of 60 points across both these categories
• Complete one course in MATH, PHYS, QUAN, STAT (or an approved equivalent) at any level
• Complete one approved course that demonstrates competency in oral and written communications

In addition to the degree requirements, for this major you'll need to complete:

Three courses at 100 level:

• Introduction to Psychology 1 (PSYC 121)
• Introduction to Psychology 2 (PSYC 122)
• Statistics for the Natural and Social Sciences (STAT 193)

Four courses at 200 level:

• Research Methods in Psychology (PSYC 232)
• Three further courses from PSYC 200-299

Four courses at 300 level:

• Advanced Research Methods in Psychology (PSYC 325)
• Three further courses from PSYC 300-399

Entry criteria

To be accepted into this degree you need::

• Achievement of the International Baccalaureate Diploma
• Successful completion of the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC) with an average of 75 per cent or higher overall
• Successful completion of the India School Certificate (ISC) with an average of 75 per cent or higher overall

Other English Language requirements:

• IELTS: minimum overall score of 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5
• TOEFL: minimum overall score of 80 (internet-based test)
• Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a 'Communicative score' of not less than 50)
• EPP: minimum final scores of 4,4,4,3
• A grade of 65% or higher in English in the AISSC or ISC.
