Summary

This diploma is offered to graduates who:

• do not have a first degree in forestry
• are looking to update and retrain
• wish to develop advanced knowledge through coursework
• are from countries where the forestry degree is less quantitative than in New Zealand.

Qualification structure

The GradDipFor normally consists of courses (a minimum of 120 points) selected from the schedule of the Bachelor of Forestry Science degree. Of these courses, at least 90 points will be at 300 and 400-level.

Further study

UC also offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Forestry, a Master of Forestry Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry.

Entry criteria

Graduate diploma require a relevant bachelor's degree. If you gained your qualifications overseas, these will need to be assessed to ensure they are of an equivalent standard.

Any bachelor's degree, although some background in a science subject, statistics, or economics is recommended.

Other English language requirements: TOEFL PBT with a minimum score of 550 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5; CCEL EAP Level 2 with a minimum C+ grade; CAE or CPE minimum score of 169 with at least 162 in reading, writing, listening and speaking; Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE with an overall score of 57 and no PTE communicative skills score below 50.
